EVENT DETAILS

The event was recorded LIVE

Clients can begin therapy with questions, concerns, and worries, not only about overcoming their problems or growth but also about therapy, the process, their performance, life impacts, and of course the therapist.

In this event, I invited you to reflect on the question posed, the diversity of concerns, the opportunity they afford, as well as implications for practice. I proposed that working with these concerns actively had the potential to reduce dropouts, activate client empowerment, align expectations, identify constraints, correct misinformation, identify process interference, tune in your approach, build the relationship, and of course, grist for the mill! By working proactively with client concerns, we are doing our fair share in right setting the clients freak-o-meter!

* I used the term freaking out as slang to describe someone's experience of beginning therapy.
